Team Split Help

Introduction

Team Split provides its users with the ability to time multiple people at the same time.   This can be use for sporting events such as Swim Meets and Track meets.  It can also be used in many other contexts such as for Physical Education teachers timing a class in events such as the file run.  This page will go over some of the basics of using Team Split and it will also explain some of the more advanced functions of Team Split and how to use them.  As always we appreciate the comments and feedback of our customers, so if you notice something that should be added or corrected to this guide, please send email to support@rhine-o.com or send us a message via the Contact Us page.  We also can be contacted on Twitter (@rhine_o), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Rhine.O.LLC/), or Google Plus (https://plus.google.com/+rhineo).

Demonstration Videos

This page contains lots of great information in text form with great pictures.  However, before we get to that, a few great videos are available to help show how Team Split can be used.

First, the Rhine-O Enterprises produced demonstration video showing some great, easy to use features:

Basic Operations

Getting Started with Team Split

Timing people is simple with Team Split.  Refer to the images below, and the associated directions for the details on how to time multiple people.

First let’s look at the different screens that are available in Team Split.  You press one of the four icons on the button to select the screen that you need to use.  At any point you can switch between screens without interrupting the other screens.  For example, you can review the results of another event in the “Results” screen while your stop watches continue to run in the “Watches” screen.

Let’s look at the main parts of Team Split as labeled in the picture above:

  1. Press here to access the “Watches” screen.  This is the main work engine of Team Split.  It allows you to time multiple users at once while keeping track of their splits (i.e., laps).  You can start all racers at the same time, or you can start them one at a time.  Racers can be stopped when the finish the event, but they can also be restarted if there is pause or break in the middle of the event that you don’t want to include in their overall time.
  2. Press here to access the “Edit Watches” screen.  This screen allows you to assign names to lanes, delete lanes, and more.  This screen can be used before, during, or after an event is complete, but it only operates on the current event.  It is also possible to edit an event later in the “Results” screen.
  3. Press here to access the “Results” screen.  This is where you can see and share the results from previous events and meets.  You can also edit the names assigned to lanes, and you can delete old events and lanes.  Results can be shared in a simple text format, in a CSV spreadsheet, or an Excel spreadsheet.
  4. Press here to access the “Options” screen.  Here you can configure the way Team Split works.  Also, this screen also provides you tools to send feedback to the Rhine-o Enterprises LLC team, rate Team Split, check the Team Split version, and more.

Watches Screen

This screen is the main view for timing the people in each event.  From here you can start and stop each lane individually.  Also, you can time individual laps or splits.

teamsplitwatches

Let’s look at the main parts of Watches Screen as labeled in the picture above:

  1. When a new event is created, you can start all the lanes at one by pressing the large “Start All” button.
  2. For each individual lane, you can start and stop the time by pressing the small green “Start” button.  This will turn into a red “Stop” button after being pressed.   A lane can be started and stopped as many times as desired.
  3. Similar to the Start /  Stop button, the Split button can be pressed on any lane to create a new split (or lap).  This can be done as many times as  is needed.
  4. Press here to access some other less commonly needed options.  This includes the ability to stop and start all lanes at once.  Since the big green “Start All” button is only available before the event has been started the first time, you can use the “Start All” option here to get the same affect later if needed.  You also have access to create a new Meet, Heat or Event.  To rename a Meet or Event, you need to switch to the “Edit Watches” screen.

Edit Watches Screen

The next screen in Team Split is the “Edit Watches” screen.  This screen is where you can set the different properties for the currently running event (or heat within an event).  Note that you can make changes here while a race is going, and it won’t stop your watches or have any negative affect on your timing.  This screen is only for the current event, but you can make the same sort of changes to your past events in the results screen.

Let’s look at the main parts of Edit Watches Screen as labeled in the picture above:

  1. Just press here on each lane to change the first name of the person in each lane.  This change will immediately be reflected in the Watches Screen as well.
  2. Just press here on each lane to change the last name of the person in each lane.  Note that you don’t have to put both first and last name if you don’t want to use a last name.  In fact, you don’t need to put in either first or last name if you just want to refer people by their lane number.
  3. Press here to pop up the more advanced options of renaming or deleting the current heat, event, or meet.  Note that if you want to delete an individual lane, you can do so by swiping from right to left on an individual lane, and then pressing the red “Delete” button.  This behavior is only available in the “Edit Watches” screen not in the main “Watches” screen.

Results Screen

The results screen is probably the most complex part of Team Shake because it gives you access to all your prior meets and the details of the events within them.  Of course, this excludes any meets and events that you have chosen to delete.  As a general principle, you access the results of a specific event by first choosing a meet, and then an event.  Once, you have chosen an event you can drill down even further to see detailed information about the individual laps with an lane.  Note that within each level, you can press the action button in the top right of the screen to share the results of the meet, event, or lane the you are viewing.  You can also choose to edit or delete from the action button.
